Quiet Confidence

Image
I was inspired to write a piece that would capture the moment where your actions speak louder than your words. You're quietly confident that the results of your hard work will show what always has been present.

Remember

"As the autumn leaves fell from the tops of the trees, the very last of the season, I couldn't help but to remember my dearest friend. We have known each other since early childhood. I don't remember not knowing them. However, they moved far away almost nine years ago now. As I stared up at the falling leaves, memories of us raking up the leaves and then playing in the piles resurfaced. Tears sprang to my eyes unbidden. 'Do you still remember me?' I whispered to myself as if the autumn wind would carry my words to my friend." - Musical Rumara

Blue Fractals - #HansZimmerMonth

This was a pretty fun film to score for. I had initially thought to orchestrate this piece but I opted instead to use the LAB's instruments and Originals Media Toolkit Piano. I decided upon this when I realised that I had all the LABS instruments to date but had never composed with them. So, I set myself the task and wrote away. I initially improvised the piano part on Logic, took it to Sibelius and mapped it out to the video, and then scored it in Logic again. I enjoyed the results and I hope you do too! Specific VSTs:  - Originals Media Tool Kit - Piano - LABS - Frozen Strings - LABS Textural Pads - LABS Dulcimer - LABS Organic Textures - LABS Handbells Hans Zimmer Month  Scoring Challenge - #HansZimmerMonth The Challenge is organised and sponsored by Spitfire Audio Holdings Limited, a company incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 09857384 whose registered office is at Elsley Court, 20-22 Great Titchfield Street, London, United Kingdom, W1W 8BE...

Follow Me, Son

Image
"It began at childbirth. From the very first moment the father laid eyes on his newborn son, he was enamoured. He carried his son around the house constantly. Helping his little boy take his first steps. Helping his son with all his schoolwork. Taking his son on trips everywhere, teaching him at every opportunity. He watched his little boy grow from an infant, into a toddler, into a rambunctious boy, into a teenager, and finally into a fine young man. The father was there for every minute of his son's life. And when his son went away to start his own life, his own family, the father waved him off with a smile. Later, the son asked his father, 'What made you raise me the way you did?' The father answered: 'I wanted you to be the best person you could be. To do that,  I had to be the best person I could be, model what a good person does, so I could help you grow into becoming a wonderful man. And I'd like to think I did.'" - Musical Rumara (https://www.y...
